Early morning stabbing leaves one hurt and one in handcuffs

A Blackshear man was stabbed and a Waycross man was arrested following a dispute early Sunday morning at the Circle K next to the Pierce County Court House in Blackshear. 

Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright said  officers responded to the Circle K, located at 114 N. Gordon Street, in reference to a reported stabbing at 12:48 a.m. Sunday morning August 23. 

The investigation determined that Wesley Mancil, 34, of Blackshear, was stabbed multiple times during a dispute in the parking lot.

The alleged offender, identified as Shawn Michale Cason, 20, of Waycross, fled the scene following the incident. 
Cason was located and apprehended a short time later at his residence by deputies with the Ware County Sheriff’s Office.

Mancil was transported by Pierce County EMS to Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, where he is being treated for multiple stab wounds. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Cason has been charged with aggravated assault and is currently being held in the Pierce County Jail.
Wright said the case remains an active and ongoing and additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
