Daisy Alfreda ‘Skipper’ Cox Luke
Daisy "Skipper" Alfreda Cox Luke, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born March 2, 1944, in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Shular and Ellie Hendley Cox. Living most of her life in Pierce County, she retired as a truck driver and owner/operator for Luke Trucking. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Shade Luke; a sister, Jeannette Aspinwall and a brother, Shannon Cox.
Survivors include her two children, Patricia Carter of North Carolina and Berry Gulley (wife Michelle), Blair, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Justin, Gina (Kelly), Asa, Mercedes, Jacquelyn, Taylor and Brandi; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Branch (husband Jimmy) and Sally Joe Cox, all of Brunswick; a brother, Shular Cox (wife Kathy), Brunswick; cousins, Denise and Greg Miller, Darien and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. 
Interment followed in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
